That sweet speck of dust

Dust in the Wind - on flickr by Delta Niner

Lord,

the glimpse I see of your glory and grace
is but a glimpse;
the thread I trace
of love all fixed and holy and kind
unmatched by any thought or find
before or since.

Yet the glimpse I see by far outweighs
what I understand.
My mind, it plays
a feeble tune, one-fingered, unsure;
when given that majestic score
it answers all bland.

Yet still what I know is a vibrant world
placed near my trust.
My faith, precious pearl,
do you ever grow? By painful degree.
But it is enough to cling to Christ’s tree,
that sweet speck of dust.
